TEDxSingapore and TED regard ourselves as a global community welcoming people from every discipline and culture who have two things in common:
Seeking a deeper understanding of the world and wanting to turn that understanding into a better future for us all.
What do we believe in?
- All knowledge is connected.
- In every country, there are curious souls who are excited by the power of ideas, and want to learn, grow and find a future to believe in.
- You get unexpected insight and inspiration when you listen to people and ideas outside your field and life experiences.
- Connecting people who love and value ideas inspires in creative conversations
What is TEDxSingapore all about?
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDxSingapore organises idea events that bring people together to share a TED-style experience and spark deep discussion and connection among people and ‘curious souls’, just like yourself, who love and value ideas.
What happens at TEDxSingapore idea events?
TED’s short, carefully-prepared talks on a wide range of subjects to foster learning, inspiration and wonder — and to provoke conversations that matter: TEDTalk videos + live speakers (at some events) + No commercial, religious or political agenda + Small contribution toward costs* + A short introductory video by TED Curator Chris Anderson explaining the TED + Welcome and introduction by the TEDxSingapore Curatorial team + Interactive, insightful, enjoyable activities + Opportunities to meet ‘curious souls’ in Singapore who love and value ideas.
All TEDxSingapore idea events are non-commercial. We strive to make all our events accessible to all people in Singapore, and as a principle, we do not charge for participation unless there are direct costs involved.
This is made possible only because of innumerate contributions of time, talents, technology, resources, venues through wonderful support from individuals, organisations and companies in Singapore who value and are passionate about ideas.

TED has grown to support those world-changing ideas with multiple initiatives. The annual TED Conference invites the world’s leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes. Their talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Al Gore, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani,Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Isabel Allende and UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown. The annual TED Conference takes place in Long Beach, California, with simulcast at TED Active in Palm Springs; TEDGlobal is held each year in UK. TED’s media initiatives include TED.com, where new TEDTalks are posted daily, and the Open Translation Project, which provides subtitles and interactive transcripts as well as the ability for any TEDTalk to be translated by volunteers worldwide. TED has established the annual TED Prize, where exceptional individuals with a wish to change the world are given the opportunity to put their wishes into action; TEDx, which offers individuals or groups a way to host local, self-organized events around the world, and the TEDFellows program, helping world-changing innovators from around the globe to become part of the TED community and, with its help, amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities.
